I was wondering if a clutch and a flywheel will swap over from a 1998 Legacy Brighton (2.2l) to a 1998 Legacy Outback (2.5l).

They should.

The 2.2 will be a cable clutch and the 2.5 is hydraulic (hydro),which shouldn't matter.

They are both PUSH-type clutches (some turbo models used a PULL-type).

 

Per OpposedForces.com they use the same clutch:

Yep. I swapped over flywheel and clutch from 2.5 to 2.2 when i did the swap on the 99. Same stuff
