October 9, 201411 yr I'm replacing my 1998 Subaru Imp-Wagon OBS' muffler. Mine is in perfect condition, for a used one, surface rust on the pipe. Another OBS guy wants it off my hands since I'm replacing it, I don't know what is a fair price, I suggested $50. Now I can see that the muffler and midpipe will be unbolted and good to go for him, what do you all think? He's adamant about replacing the fart can on his.
October 9, 201411 yr $50 is certainly fair and on the low side in rust prone areas where these things are always replaced. probably worth $50 - $150 for both pieces. out west, where they never even have to replace this stuff, probably harder to find someone that needs it. the converter might be worth more than that at a scrap yard...but that's only if you know how/where to sell one, it's hard to find places that will give you real values.
October 9, 201411 yr $50. sounds about right. Pick N Pull charges about $13 for a muffler and $10 for a pipe (no cat)- but that's after a $2. entry fee and the hassle of finding and pulling it. To the right person it may be worth more, but if you already have a buyer and it gets one more fart can off the road, it sounds like a win/win.
October 9, 201411 yr Author Mid-pipe has a resonater, not a cat, but thanks for the ballpark figure. I think I'll float 60 since I'll have to drive back up to him. $50 is certainly fair and on the low side in rust prone areas where these things are always replaced. probably worth $50 - $150 for both pieces. out west, where they never even have to replace this stuff, probably harder to find someone that needs it. the converter might be worth more than that at a scrap yard...but that's only if you know how/where to sell one, it's hard to find places that will give you real values.

October 9, 201411 yr Author Gas and Dinner for your Time and effort. I just noticed what your def-pic is, rad!! I had an 83' Honda CX650, the only year they stuck the Motogucci looking twisted-V-twin on a Cruiser frame. Was a sweet sweet ride...
