Aftermarket Compact AC system

Featured Replies

So any trying to track down bits and pieces of factory AC systems for my 78 Brat, I came across this.

It appears to be a all in one self contained unit. It is small, cheap, and sounds like exactly what I want.

GOAL: To have working AC in my Brat.

Is anyone familiar with something like this?

Do I need anything under the hood or do I just hook a power line up to it, mount it and enjoy a nicely air conditioned Brat?

Yes, you will need to have a compressor, condenser, hoses, and a drier in addition to the evaporator you linked. Wiring is simple, usually just a fused power wire to the evaporator control and a wire from the evaporator to the compressor. If offered, it is better if the compressor wire is installed thru a low pressure switch.

This would be nice to have one day! So I'm commenting    As of right now I'm still trying to get the guts to pull my dash off to see why my heater won't work. I think a linkage on one of the switches broke.

Always thought a Vintage Air Gen II Mini system would be ideal for our older models: http://www.vintageair.com/index.asp

Completely replaces the existing heating set up, adds air conditioning and is small enough to fit under the dash and be completely integrated and unobtrusive.
