86 EA82 swap with 88 EA82

Featured Replies

Can I swap a 86 ea82 with a running 88 ea82 both are none turbo but they look different.

What differences are you seeing? Your 88 might be FI where the 86 may be carbed so they could look different there...

The 86 has multi port FI. The 88 has FI also just looks a lot different.

Yes, the older engine has MPFi = individual fuel injectors,

while the Newer has SPFi = single throttle body injector.

You can Swap them, but You'll need ECU & Wiring to be transplanted also...

What's wrong with the older engine?

Maybe we can help you with another ideas...

Well the 88 runs great new top end rebuid. But looks like crap. The 86 looks awesome but needs a rebuild. Looks like I am rebuilding the 86 ea82
