Er27 power upgrade

Featured Replies

Hello all, I have an xt6 with the 6 cylinder er27 engine in it. The engine needs a rebuild due to major oil leakage. while I'm at it with the rebuild I was wondering, what are some options to upgrade the power of the engine. Originally has only 145hp and want to get closer to 200hp. I Preferably would like to stay away from the turbo suggestions.

delta cams custom grind, intake, exhaust. larger injectors, thats about it. cams will make the most difference though

Do you know a website where I could get those parts. Parts for the xt6 and its engine are fairly difficult to get

You don't need a rebuiold to seal oil leaks.

I would suggest a headgasket set.......reaseal the oil pump, and put a new Front and rear Crank seal, rear seperator seal and reseal the oil pan.

If you REALLY want to improv eit a bit get new rings.....

Oitherwise you aren't gonna upgrade ewasily.

Well the engine has about 230,000 miles on it so its gonna need a rebuild sooner or later anyway. I figured I'd do it now. How much more power could I get out of a custom cam?

You hav to call delta and ask for the custom grind , they don't advertise er27 parts. The last set I bought they advertised 12-15% increase, intake will add 2-3, exhaust the same, get rid of cats if you can

If you decide swapping in another engine rather than fooling with yours, I have an ER27 engine with only 11K miles on it. Been in dry storage for years.

Forgot to mention this is a JDM engine. Has more HP than the US version. How much, I don't know.
