Ea82t single range swap to dual range

Featured Replies

Hi all!

I'm driving a 1989 GL wagon turbo push button 4wd 5sp etc etc. It is stock (for now) I have a bunch planned for it, however I want the low range for hills/crawling! I've searched the forum for a similar thread but haven't found one!

What's the process for swapping my single range tranny for a dual range? I'm noobish with that deep of work, but if I have the info, I have access to the tools/people. Sorry if this is already covered somewhere else!

Thanks!

Google is your friend. You will normally hear crickets chirping, if you just ask without doing some research.... I will however give you a hint.

Google: loyale d/r swap

It should lead you in the right direction

Thanks! I appreciate it!

All that is needed is a Dual range trans, the shifter and console for it, and a matching rear diff..(most are 3.9) Oh yeah and you will need a set of 23 spline axles.

  • 2 weeks later...

Avoid the turbo dual range gearboxes if you got them over there as they have the crap 1.19:1 low range rather than the good L series 1.59:1

Everything should bolt straight in without any issues other than the drive shafts (23 spline count required) as mentioned by Gloyale.

Cheers

Bennie
