1998 Outback wagon 2.5 DOHC cooling fans run continuously

Featured Replies

Hi again everyone,

Checked the fan relays and all is good.  I remove the #1 relay and the fans quit, so I know that the relay is passing current.  I switched out several other relays to make sure and all works.

Temperature sensor on the cross pipe?  My guess is that it would be the multiple wire sensor that feeds the ECM?

Thanks guys.

Are they constant on, or on/off/on every couple seconds?

The first could be temp sensor bad/unplugged or a bad connection at the large plug on the bellhousing or bad sensor ground on the manifold.

The second would be because the green test mode plugs under the dash are connected.
