This is my Leone wagon I bought a bit over a year ago. It was not the cheapest, in the best condition or in the same state, but I decided I wanted it so I flew there and drove 600km back with it. It currently has about 270,000km on the odometer which seems young for an EA81.

Managed to pass the inspection in my state on the second try.

 

How I bought it:

 

 

I then took off the plastidip and stickers, sold the subwoofer, and put in the original steering wheel.

 

 

Tried some bigger tyres, they don't have much clearance without a lift kit:

 

 

 

I got some Speedy wheels but they are not very circular so I have a set of genuine Subaru ones that I will paint and put on later.

 

The sun visor was $14 from a junk yard and it installed without drilling holes. I cut and bent some chome trim from a Datsun 910 and it clamps the visor on. It also holds the original trim which was falling off.

 

 

 

This was after going on a 1,200km drive north

The old carb had bad vacuum leaks all over and I don't think the vac operated secondary worked much.

Adaptor plate from Redline. My EA81 has the big manifold, so it uses the same adaptor plate as an EA82.

 

 

 

This was my solution to a throttle cable bracket. It was only supposed to be temporary, but it worked too well so I left it like that.

 

 

 

 

 

When I finished, all was well for a while. Then the weather started to get hot and the engine started to run poorly. The air it was taking in was too hot and even the filter paper was untouchably hot.

 

So I made this:

 

 

 

 

 

 

That's motorboat insulation glued onto the bottom. This air box has worked very well at keeping the intake cool and the engine runs a lot better in the heat.

It is only temporary though, when do a 2" body lift I should be able to fit an air filter box adaptor and use the original air box.

South Australia, that's pretty neat. I love the wrench trick and the new air cleaner holder that looks BA.

Got to agree with Scooner. The wrench trick and filter can are great ones.

South Aus is a pretty good place apart from most of the 4WDing here being tresspassing. It is not like other states where there are open forests everywhere.

 

I am glad you like my handiwork, I am new to this sort of thing. In the future I might make the filter box bottom out of steel and grind the welds flat, then paint it so it looks factory. 

 

My thick rubber shifter boot was restricting the gear stick movement, so I bought a leather one from the shop that is supposed to go over your normal boot as a decoration. I cut the elastic out of it and clamped and glued it on and it works much better.

 

 

 

I also thought the diff might be vulnerable when I do a body lift so I put on this bash guard from Crossbred performance

 

 

Also I found that the underside of the car is infested with redbacks.
