unusual sounds on slow speed turning

Featured Replies

Hello all,

I am very new to this forum.I leave in Tororo, Uganda, East Africa.

Been with Subaru for 3 years now. Awesome product. I drive a legacy, 2002. Not so recent :).

Lately i have had a mind puzzling twist to my machine. At slow speeds, i get weird sound to both directions left and right. It feels like the car is moving over huge resistance and there is a thudd thudd sound? This is more pronounced after the machine has heated up a little ( moved a distance).

My mechanics- ibet they may not be so smart have changed front left and rear right shafts, but nothing has changed.

Any leads would immensely be useful.

Cheers.

Rek

I would look at your half shafts, and or cv joints.

Welcome to the USMB, Rek.  Is your Legacy AWD?  Did the problem develop and get worse over a period of time?  Sounds like it might be torque bind.

Thanks Dinky and Olnick...

Olnick, yes its an AWD. I think its gotten worse. The thud sound is more pronounced after covering a distance. By the beginning of the day, you could barely notice this. And just to add, both front and reverse movements at slow speed with the wheels turned can produce this sound. You could think something is going to break.

Worried... :(

Will try follow the leads, ask for a check. Thanks people.
