ej22t to ej22 swap?

Featured Replies

hey there, I have a 94 turbo with about 220k on her, just did a compression test and theyre all about 120psi which seems kinda low, I have a ej22 motor with 108k to throw in there, with the vacuum lines to match. has anyone done this? exhaust manifold different? do I need a different computer? any tips would be appreciated!

Cheers, Josh

Hey Josh,

I think you can just swap long blocks 1 for 1 and keep all you turbo and everything the same.....There are much more experienced guys on here than me though.

Cheers,

Eric

the long blocks are very very different. cannot easily do that swap. oil cooling and water cooling lines, compression ratios

you can do a ej22 swap if you delete everything and swap a harness

but the differences are many, exhaust is no where near the same, harnesses different, ecu different, etc etc.

you have one of the most sought after engines in the history of engines, i would do some research and either rebuild it or have a reputable tech rebuild it

you car becomes nearly worthless in a resell situation with out the 22t

Hey Rock; 120 # on a turbo motor is not that bad... especially with 220,000 , how does it run ?  Sell the ej 22 and use the $ to max out the turbo.

Put the N/A motor in with the NA intake.

Put the Turbo crank and cam sensors on the N/A block.

Put an N/A exhaust on it.

Drive it.

thanks for the input! the motor runs pretty well still, bit of hla tick and some oil leaks but still pretty good gas milage. I have another ecu for the 22e. i think the the just need a different exhaust, wiring harnesses i hadnt thought about, and the turbo shifting for the auto trans. maybe i'll try and find the leak might be a cam seal in the timing cover. Anyone want to buy it haha
