Got my heads from my 99 Forester on my work bench right now. Would like to set the tappet clearance before I put the head back on but I cant find the specs. Anyone have this information?

Do you have the car? Valve clearance should be on the emissions label on the bottom of the hood.

When I did the HG on my 00 OBW with SOHC engine last year I had the heads rebuilt.  While I had them on the bench I very carefully set the rocker to valve stem clearances.  After I got the heads back on the engine the clearances were all wrong.

 

I still don't know why the clearances would change just bolting the heads on to the engine but that was my experience.

almost positive it's  .008 intake and 0.010 exhaust

google it?  all 00-04 EJ25's will be the same as your 99 SOHC Phase II EJ25.
