2013 Outback questions

Featured Replies

Looking at getting another Subaru however with the current issue with the oil consumption of the 2013 and '14 I'm not sure if I should go for the '13 model? How bad is it really? I'm not too sure the Subaru is that good on the type of oil weight for that motor configuration.

1-2-3-4,

After some searching online the 2014 Outback isn't listed as having the oil ring problem. I know my 2012 doesn't either.

Does that year still have the EJ engine or did they all switch to the F series by then? It seems to me the F engines are the ones having the most oil consumption trouble.

Been following the oil consumption issue since I'm considering buying another Subaru, probably a 2011 or newer Legacy.  Seem to hear much more about the problem in FB-engined Foresters than Outbacks or Legacies.
