I'm trying to replace my blower motor. The Haynes manual shows a picture of a blower motor held in place by three screws. My blower motor does not have these three screws. The blower motor appears to be inside an assembly box. I'm hoping that if I can get the assembly box out of the car and open it up that the motor will pop out and I can slide the new one in but I can't figure out how to get the assembly box out of the car because it's to big and gets stuck when I try to wiggle it out from under the dash. Does anyone have any advise? It's a 2004 Impreza outback sport.

 

 

Can you take a picture? It should be held in with three screws. One of them is probably obscured by a plastic thingy for the power wires, the other two might be under other wiring harness wires. But as for as I remember, it's the good old 3 bolt style blower setup subaru has been using forever.

 

Get some pics and we'll see what's up, or point you in the right direction.

Yeah, I did mine on my '96 recently and it was right there w/ three screws all the way to the right  up behind the glove box (had to remove the glove box).

swapped blowers on my 2003 impreza wagon with a 2006 year unit.  it looked like the motor is molded into the ducting assembly.  i could be wrong though, didn't look too carefully as i already had the entire assembly and didn't need to swap blowers.

 

anyways, to get it off of the car, I had to remove the nut holding the white upper piece to the dash. (it's  hidden under the wiring loom). then when all nuts are off, the white piece is held to the black piece via plastic tabs.  you should be able to feel them and unclip them by hand.  after that you should be able to pull the lower assembly out.
