May 17, 201510 yr So the JDM engine did not come with studs on the bottom. Being in a hurry I forgot to install the studs off the old block before installing. I figured I would just slip them in when I noticed they weren't there. Of course they are about 1/4 " to long to fit in the hole with the axles in. I do not want,to pull the axles or the the engine back out. What are my options besides drinking?
May 17, 201510 yr three choices; 1) loosen the motor lift & slide out till you have clearance. 2) remove axle 3) get roaring drunk say F it and drive till you break the bellhousing or case. If it were me I would go with option #1
May 17, 201510 yr Fairtaxs idea is a good one ; easier than option 1, shouldn't hurt the integrity of the bellhousing enough to worry about. Give it a try
May 17, 201510 yr Do the axles have spring pins? If theyre pinned, knock the pins out and slide them over. Sgould be able to get enough room that way. If you still need more room mark and remove the upper strut bolt. Loosen the lower bolt and the knuckle will swing out far enough to pull the axle off the trans.
May 19, 201510 yr Author Lol. I jumped,on to,tell you that I ended up sliding the spring clips out but still needed a lil red, you know, ammount of room. 1/16 maybe. I seriously considered my dremel buy reached for the angle grinder instead. Took a smidgen off the nut end of the stud, ran a die down to clean it up. Boom, done. What a bone headed mistake though, forgot to put the studs in in the first place. Thanks for the help. I was not pulling that block back out.
