Power steering question

Featured Replies

Recently replaced power steering pump with a reman unit.  The new pump came without what I understand to be a pressure switch that screws into the back of it.  I moved the existing switch from the old pump to the new, and noticed that the SS nub on the inside was very loose, as in likely broken.  I installed it anyway to plug the hole in the pump and make the car driveable.

Called a local dealer to see if they had this switch in stock.  Was surprised to hear "it's part of the pump, and is not sold separately."  Any suggestions where to get a functioning replacement?  New pumps are $500 and the much cheaper reman I bought came without the switch.  Used is fine.

Thanks.

I may have one. Can you take a pic of the part you need so I can see if the one I have is the same?

I have a picture, but can't get the image thing to work.  When I click the little image icon a small window opens called Image Properties.  I can paste the photo's URL, but after that nothing works.  Clicking OK, Cancel, or the "x" all do nothing, and I have to force the whole window to close.

Thanks for the reminder.  I learned the hard way that once the O ring on the pump suction is disturbed it has to be replaced.

Use something like photobucket, upload the pic to it then click and copy direct link, paste it into the url box
