I am swapping a 1990 manual into my 1995 legacy manual.  The older has a speedo cable and the newer has an electronic VSS.  can these be interchanged,  also I will swap the rear end due to different gear ratios.  Are there any other differences which will not allow me to put a 1990 manual into a 1995 subaru legacy.  Thank you very much.....

The speedo cable from the '96 will connect to the '90 just fine....just move the electronic part to the other trans.

 

The rear differential pinion flange on the '90 - that the driveline bolts to - won't work w/your '96 driveline - different bolt pattern. They can be swapped, but PITA.

Thank you for the Info,  I have everything swapped but the rear end, so I will need to figure out the flange this morning.
