1st Gen Brat Dome Light Removal

Featured Replies

Seems like a dumb question to ask . . . but I'm going to ask because I'd really rather not break the damned thing.

Removing the headliner from a Gen 1 Brat.

I'm having HORRIBLE luck preserving all the little plastic rivets that hold the trim in.   Particularly the weird little ones over the windows that allow the piece of trim to slide into position.

For better or worse, I've gotten everything out except the dome light.

Anyone care to give me a hint on how to remove it before I break it too?

Thanks in advance.

Scott

You have to turn the light around until you find the 'gap' in the metal base plate near the switch. Just gently move the light around while applying downward pressure and once the tab is in the gap it can be removed...

Easier to do than it sounds!

Scott although this is an earlier light (1974), the principle is the same. There is a small tab on the lens that you have to move around until it is near the switch, then the lens can then be prised off.

i broke mine also while trying to remove it, i was trying to add power to the front map lights that i was installing.. good thing the 85-94 is a bit more common.

and yes as Leeroy said, turn it and you will find a gap where it falls out, and the other piece that holds the bulb has 2 screws attached to the roof, well it should...
