New to forum and have questions on suspension for 1997 Outback Sport

Featured Replies

Hi Everyone,

I am new to this forum. I have two subarus.......one is a 2002 WRX and the other is a 1997 Outback Sport.  My Outback Sport needs new suspension so I bought some new KYB struts for it. My question to anyone who may know is.....can I use the 2002 WRX's OEM springs with the new struts on the Outback Sport? The struts look identicle for the most part and everything looks like it lines up. I just don't want to take everything appart just to find out it wont work.

Any help would be great!

Thanks!

Yep. All bolts in. WRX springs are probably a bit stiffer but it all fits.

Thanks!!

Hi,

Double check that the springs are/not tapered (smaller @ top than bottom), as they won't fit the top hats if they are. Certain years of the '02-'05 WRX had the tapered springs.

Tangent: And just to clarify for others. The Impreza (all versions) '92-'01 top hats/ Upper Strut Mounts on the REAR struts won't bolt in - different bolt pattern.
