September 2, 201510 yr I have a '79 DL and am considering buying a Weber carb since my wagon has so little power. I haven't looked at the current condition of my Hitachi yet, but from what I've read, this would be a simple way to improve the acceleration and overall running of the car. Thoughts? recommendations? conversion kits needed? Any tutorials on the board already existing? Thanks everyone. Wes

If you want bonus points, hook it up so that all of the breather lines go back to where they were with the stock carb (but using the weber).
October 27, 201510 yr You would use the Weber air filter housing. It won't fit with the original ea71 air cleaner. Unless you modify it. October 27, 201510 yr Author yes and it was awesome. i dont have the tools or creativity to do that. also my old air cleaner is in much worse shape cosmetically.
