Leaky Passanger Cam Seal After Replacement

Featured Replies

When relacing cam seals on ej22, can the new seals be driven in too far. I always install them flush with the head. On last engine the were driven past flush and now one is leaking. Their the good Subaru cam seals.

Kinda have to drive them in as far as the previous seal was. Especially if the seal area has any rust or dirt on it.

The drain hole for the seal is fairly large, so as long as there isn't RTV or sludge buildup blocking the drain, these are usually ok to drive in as far as they'll go.

Use some green sotchbright to cleand the cam shaft and OD of the seal.
