2003 SUBARU LEGACY L (stereo issue)

Featured Replies

HI,

I HAVE A 2003 SUBARU LEGACY L. 88,000 +  MILES.

JUST RECENTLY, I NOTICED THAT MY STEREO WOULD SOMETIMES WORK & SOMETIME WOULDN'T WORK.

NOW......IT DOESN'T WORK AT ALL!

THE LIGHT ON THE STEREO WORKS AND IS LIT.

THE OPTIONS TO CHANGE STATIONS ARE ALL WORKING AND SHOWING.

JUST (NO SOUND)!

I CHECKED THE FUSE...OKAY.

NOTE: WHEN I BOUGHT THE CAR, (USED), THE DRIVERS SIDE / FRONT SPEAKER NEVER WORKED BUT THE OTHER SPEAKERS DID!

CAN YOU PLEASE TELL ME WHAT MAY BE GOING ON HERE.

**STEREO PROBLEM?

**SPEAKER PROBLEM?

THANKS!

Okay, first, please lay off the caps lock. In the forum world this is equivalent to yelling all the time.

Second this is a problem I have heard before in the dual stereo/HVAC units and it is caused by contacts in the unit desoldering. There is info on this around, I beleive I saw a good thread on the outback forums.

First thing to do is make sure the speaker balance control and front-rear fader are set correctly. Then make sure the wire connections in the rear of the unit are making solid connection. If you have an upgraded sound system you may have an external amplifier for the speakers. If that is so, check for power getting to it.
