January 13, 201610 yr I've got a 91 loyale 5-speed and I've narrowed down my problems to being a disfunctional fuel pump. I'm wondering if I can put an aftermarket inline pump on or if I should just bite the bullet and shell out $140 on a new one? Money is tight but I do want it to last a good while and be reliable because the car's my daily driver. Thanks, Bobby
January 13, 201610 yr Yes, but a couple of things to note. The factory pump has a right angle exit line, most aftermarket pumps go exit straight. Secondly, the factory pump has a filter screen on its inlet. A lot of other cars have this screen inside the tank, so you'll need to add a filter between the tank and the pump if you don't want it to die due to some debris
January 13, 201610 yr I usually go with a generic fuel pump, and put an in line filter before the pump. I have had good results using this brand in my subarus, take a look for yourself. http://www.pefp.com/make/Subaru.html Rock Auto lists the P17 generic fuel pump for under $30
