Head gasket question

Featured Replies

A Subaru Mechanic I met swears that using the high temp cooler spray on the head gaskets when installing them is the best way to do them. Especially on the dual cam 2.5

Any thoughts?

Thanks

Sorry meant high temp copper spray

I agree.  We use the Permatex Copper Gasket spray on everything up tthrough 1999.  With the EJ25 SOHC engines, we use turbo head gaskets, so no copper spray.

Others on here use the copper spray too, ivansimports does like a dozen EJ engines a month I think and puts something on his, though he doesn't give a brand/specifics:

More important IMO is resurfacing the heads and block.

If you're looking for additional precautions I'd look into resurfacing the block. Not just for flatness, but quality RA/surface roughness.
