January 31, 201610 yr First of all, thanks for the great forum. I have been lurking for a while during my search for a wagon, now that I found one, I decided to join. I just picked up a nice little 92 Loyale wagon, 200k miles, straight, clean. I took it for a test drive, everything checked out, but once a got it home and switched it into 4wd the car wouldn't move. It didn't do this on the test drive. It feels like the parking brake is on. If it is in 4wd, and you let the clutch out without giving it a bunch of gas it will die. Any thoughts? I am guessing the trans is toast. Is this a common issue or one anyone else has been through. Thanks for any help you guys can provide.
January 31, 201610 yr On the passenger side up by the fire wall there is a white vacuum canister that may be disconnected and if so that may be the problem... that controls the silonide other than that I have had wires in my shifter boot that got cut check there too...
January 31, 201610 yr The drivetrain is just binding. Confirm all your tires are the same size and brand, confirm all wheels rotate free in the air, and don't use it on pavement. It's meant for snow and mud and grass and dirt. Pavement will bind the drivetrain, put a TON of stress on your axles and trans, and eventually break these things.
February 1, 201610 yr Author Thanks guys, I will check those things mentioned. I bet it's the tires now that you mention it. One of the back tires I'd worn pretty bad. New tires are on the agenda for this week, so I will try it again with new rubber. I'll let you know what I find. Thanks again.
