rear axle bearing drivers side

Featured Replies

my rear axle bearing went belly up are they easy to change? or is it a hub assembly? i tried u tube but all they tell me is about legacy and mined is a 2006 impreza.

Should be a hub assembly. It shouldn't be to hard, but then again that also depends on how rusty it is. I've had to use a puller and a BFH to get them out sometimes. Then again most of the time I've been able to get them out with little effort. They are definatly not the notoriously hard bearings of the older gen Subaru's.

Impreza uses a pressed in bearing. Disassemble it and have a shop press the bearing out/in or get a used knuckle/hub assembly.

Even in '06 pressed in, man, subaru likes to make 'em all different...

i have road side assistance but it is only good for 25 miles and 20 bucks a mile after that and it is 67 miles to the dealer then it will cost 100 bucks for the deductable and they will take a week to fix it and i would have to pay for a rental and they would reimburse me eventually so since it is at les schwab in colfax they will charge 300 bucks to fix it and i can pay them next payday and it should be done tomarrow. i figured that was cheaper. why did i pay for the extended warrenty,it is a ripoff.
