Does anybody know what size TORX bit I need for the drain plug on the front differential of my 2004 Outback LL Bean? The biggest I have a T-60 but it feels too loose.

Edited by screwbaru2

I see T70 mentioned for 04+.

But, I think I used the same size for my '03 trans and my '04 trans for my '03 LL Bean.

Got mine at autozone (or advance, can never keep 'em straight)

If / when you do the rear, don't forget to make sure the fill plug turns before removing the drain plug...

Sometimes a hex-head (Allen key), of suitable size, will work instead of the proper Torx tool.

But if you try this, don't exert too much torque, for fear of damaging the Torx hole.

forester2002s Thx, I did the rear no issues but the front is TIGHT.  I used the T-60 and flexed my 3/8 breaker bar with pipe ext. So I'm thinking I need the correct size in 1/2 drive.

CNY_Dave Thx, that's the size I was thinking myself and since you've got several examples where that size is used I'm confident.

Thanks again
