83 GL turbo wagon

Featured Replies

I'm going to be picking up an 83 wagon turbo for 400 in a few weeks it looks to be in pretty good shape body wise no noticeable rust it turns over owner said it ran good when he parked it 3 years ago I was thinking of doing an ej swap I also will have a 91 loyale this weekend that needs timing belts done is there a difference between an ea81 to ej swap and the turbo version

Nothing besides not having to replace the fuel pump and fuel lines. The tank has baffles in it unlike a regular ea81 car so you don't have to add a surge tank like some people do.

Also will the wire harness and ecu from a 97 legacy gt ej25 work for an ej22 to swap into the ea81 I ask that because I have my 97 torn down on the farm engine and trans have been pulled due to the coolant mixture wasn't good enough this winter when it got down to -40 didn't notice till the oil light came on so I added oil then watched the temp drop all the way to cold by then the light came back on just didn't want to deal with it at that moment lol

It's an awesome looking 83 been eyeing it for over a year but i think an eg33 outback sport would be more fun then a an ej22 with dr 5speed considering there's more parts in the yards around me for ej cars trying to find an ea in the yards in South Dakota is dam hard now the fun part is trying to figure out a setup for a highway cruising eg33 was thinking of using my 5mt from my legacy since I have it but was also thinking of getting one newer and probably better shape then my 312k mile 5mt lol
