HatchBack Project Idea

Featured Replies

ok, the only missing ingrediants is a hatchback itself.........

i have an ej22 with 4spd auto 2wd trans, and all the wiring for both. suppose i find myself a hatch(or 474 bucks).

this project would use the ej trans with the 25 spline doj, and ea82 turbo axles from a full time or turbo model.

but nay? the hatch is an ea81?

this project would use the MODIFIED ENGINE CROSSMEMBER from trashwagon 5, which uses ALL ea82 front suspension parts. so this would make the 25 spline ea82 axles work, just like normal ea82 axles have worked in the trashwagon with the dual range and ea82 motor

should something like this use the 16 inch 6-lug rim with 205/55, or would a 5-lug swap be more appropriate?

anyway, opinions? how would you guys put this together?

My opinion, drop in the EJ22 NA, bolt on the turbo up and down pipes and turbo with IC. Mate that to the auto. Go with the 5 lug conversion and WRX wheels all around, they are dirt cheap because people take them off to upgrade and it won't fit much else. Drop in a set of low budget coil overs to make it all come together. Then strip out the interior and go ape on weight. You'll have a WRX killer for very little $$.

take the two wheel tranny and put the motor where the rear seats were, and have a mid rear 2wd hatch!

sounds like fun, reverse donuting at 60 mph!, one speed forward. rear wheel steering too? a backwards car would be interesting!

call it a forklift and make people believe its diesel

youd just be shifting the motor backwards so that the axles drive the rear wheels. It would still run in the right direction ;)
