Rambo
Fuel pumps are definetly on the pricey side. I don't want to drop $200 for a pump on rockauto. I found a 92 Loyale in a local scrapyard and figured if the parts are interchangeable I might as well swap it out. Can you guys tell me whether this can be done? And is a fuel pump change hard to do? MR_Loyale
Yes. Fuel pump is external on Loyales. Look under rear passenger bottom near fuel tank. Edited August 8, 2016 by MR_Loyale
jsyme
Hello Rambo, Take a 10mm wrench or shallow socket and a flat head screw driver for the hose clamp. It's a very easy swap, and yes they are completely interchangeable with sizes, space and pressures. The hardest part will be taking the old hoses off. WoodsWagon
If that pump is junk too, you can use a $100 ford truck frame rail mounted pump. You need to adapt the big inlet hose from the loyale tank down to the size of the ford pump inlet, but it's pretty straight forward and they work well. They also rarely go bad, so I've had good luck pulling them off trucks in the junkyard. Look for late 80's F series trucks.
jsyme
... and you'll certainly want a hose clamp for the fuel tank side for sure. on the high pressure side you'll lose maybe about a coffee cup worth of fuel if you don't clamp it.
Rambo
Ok thanks for the advice everyone. Hopefully the pump in the scrapyard isn't garbage.
