Expansion Valve location?

Featured Replies

Haha ok guys, it's summer here, and my expansion valve gave up the ghost. My question... Where is the expansion valve located? I've heard someone say between the evaporator and drier? It's a 1995 Impreza 1.8. Thanks in advance!

There's one bolt that holds both lines to the firewall, remove that bolt, and the valve is behind there (IIRC held in with a 4mm allen bolt or 2), kind of recessed back into the firewall.

Not on 95. Expansion valve is inside the core box and you have to pull the dash out to get to it.

Good chance the expansion valve isn't your problem. The older style almost never fail.

Have you put guages on the system to see what's going on?

Most of the time the charge is just low.
