trunk release lever

Featured Replies

My 02 start having intermittent problems "popping" the trunk open

I would get out and push down on trunk lid....go back and pull lever and it would work....then I started having to do it 2 and 3 times to get It to pop

Has not worked at all in awhile (the lever is in the right spot)

Is the cable stretched?

Any way to fix this?

thanks guys and girls

Sometimes the little peg on the latch that gets moved when you pull the cable gets bent from slamming the trunk. You can rebend it straight.

Spray some lithium grease in the latch to get it greased up. Should make it work like new again.

Be sure to spray your hood latch as well. Broken trunk release cable isn't a big deal. A broken hood latch cable is a pita to replace, after you have to figure out how to get the hood open from below the front bumper.
