87subbomber
Just recently i did all the upper gaskets except head gasket. Put it all together and behold!, oil looks like its coming out of case halves. I have a friend who has a 1992 Gl engine 1.8 SOHC like mine, but its fuel injected. This engine is so clean you can eat off it. Can i use this engine and just swap my intake manifold and carb onto it? i dont want to split case halves just yet. Any help is appreciated
DaveT
A 92 should have an EA82 engine. I'm guessing you want to swap it into an 87? Swap the intake, and all that stuff, the bottom, and heads should be the same.I swapped 86 and 90's era intakes / lower end / heads / etc. The EGR stuff you might have to figure a way to deal with. 87subbomber
Yes the 1992 engine has no oil leaks, recently rebuilt for a sandrail and my buddies project fell through. I got the engine for $200 so i was wanting to conform i can swap intakes. I have no emissions so egr is going bye when i get the weber conversion kit at the same time as i swap the engine. This is my 6 year old boys car, he claimed it and has been helping me all week.
