Just recently i did all the upper gaskets except head gasket. Put it all together and behold!, oil looks like its coming out of case halves. I have a friend who has a 1992 Gl engine 1.8 SOHC like mine, but its fuel injected. This engine is so clean you can eat off it. Can i use this engine and just swap my intake manifold and carb onto it? i dont want to split case halves just yet. Any help is appreciated

A 92 should have an EA82 engine.  I'm guessing you want to swap it into an 87?  Swap the intake, and all that stuff, the bottom, and heads should be the same.

I swapped 86 and 90's era intakes / lower end / heads / etc.

 

The EGR stuff you might have to figure a way to deal with.

Yes the 1992 engine has no oil leaks, recently rebuilt for a sandrail and my buddies project fell through. I got the engine for $200 so i was wanting to conform i can swap intakes. I have no emissions so egr is going bye when i get the weber conversion kit at the same time as i swap the engine. This is my 6 year old boys car, he claimed it and has been helping me all week.
