ivantruckman
My spedo went out , I checked the cable its good , I checked the transmission , the cable turns when the wheel spins , I have heard of a speedometer gear stripping ? is the little gear in the gauge housing behind the spedo ? I spun the cable in a cordless drill, and the speedometer doesn't move . am I missing something ?
jsyme
It sounds like you've covered both ends. (source and destination) If you open up your instrument cluster you may find broken pieces in the speedometer module and therein lies your fix. The last option I can think of is the cable is not pressed properly into the cluster. Take the time to swap out the bulbs for LEDs too! skishop69
You need to make sure you're spinning it the right way and watch both the speedo and odo for movement. If the odo moves and the speedo doesn't, the speedo head is toast. It is possible to have the gear in the tranny stripped and still spin without the cable on. Put the cable back on and it loads the gear so now it just slips.
