November 30, 20169 yr 97 Legacy Outback Wagon AT. The rear seat belt buckle receptacle seem to be specific to the metal fittings. The receptacle for the middle rear seat won't accept the metal fitting of the belt next to it even tho they look the same. This is annoying when I've got people in the back and one of the receptacles has slipped under the seat and there's no time to find it. Is there a way to make them all work? Some sort of universal receptacle? Magic spells? Herbal medicine? BTW, I'm using language the stewardesses say on airplanes cause I'm not totally sure what the different parts are called.
December 1, 20169 yr You would have to replace both parts of the center seat belt. There are different styles in different subarus. It's the matter of finding the correct one that matches the other belts
December 1, 20169 yr In lie of changing seat belts, you might want to consider adding a color sticker to both the buckle and latch receptacle for a correct match up. That would show the seat belt wearer that the correct color match up is necessary to get the buckle to lock in to the latch receptacle.
December 1, 20169 yr Buckle them up and they will not slip under the seat. If your passenger looses it is his or her fault...
