1978 Brat throwout bearing springs

Featured Replies

Does anyone know where I can find the two small springs that go between the throwout bearing carrier and the transmission on a1978 Brat? I can not find them anywhere.

call Subaru?

is EA81 different than EA82?  EA82, ER27, EJ clips were all the same.  i don't trust this 100% but this suggests they're the same part:

except they're only like $2-$3 at Subaru

i've seen people mention before they aren't even needed...????!!!!  not that i'm by any means recommending that!

Thanks grossgary.  I have found that style spring (clip) but I think it is for vehicles newer than 78.  Mine has two small coil springs that attach to the transmission itself and to the bearing carrier keeping the throwout bearing pulled tight to the transmission while the clutch is engaged. I'm kinda thinking they aren't needed since mine were both broken and everything seemed to be working fine. I just want to make everything right while its apart if I can.
