steamdan Posted February 11, 2017 Share Posted February 11, 2017 After 260k + miles my engine (SOHC) bit the dust, so I did some research and went with a JDM 2.0. From my research, it looked like this would be a fairly straight swap with the original intake manifold, some sensors, cam pulleys, crank gear, EGR, and wiring harness. However, I didn't realize the JDM doesn't have the AVLS, so I'm wondering what else I can/need to do to make this 2.0 work for me. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
GeneralDisorder Posted February 11, 2017 Share Posted February 11, 2017 It won't work without the AVLS unless you are willing to try to tune the AVLS out of the computer. Might be possible. I've never tried it. You can get remanufactured short blocks from Subaru for about 2150. They come with oil pump, pan, water pump, etc. Your heads are probably fine - disassemble them and clean them out. There are MANY oil passages and ports that must be cleaned on the AVLS heads.
