May 5, 20178 yr On my 08 Impreza 2.5 (non-turbo) I had a get under my hood and chew up the spark plug wires and then chew on another hose. The spark plug wires are a relatively easy fix. The hose was only slightly chewed, with just a little of the core fibers showing, but doesn't appear to be leaking at all. But wondering if someone could help me identify the hose so I can replace or if I have immediate concerns. I think it is a pressure regulator with only, but not positive. Any help identifying would be greatly appreciated. See attached photos. Thanks.
May 5, 20178 yr If your talking about the one with the mesh on it. That's a fuel supply hose. And the hose directly under that one is the fuel return hose.
May 5, 20178 yr Author Yep, the one on top. Any tricks to replacing it pretty simple? I would assume similar pressure to the system when replacing the fuel filter?
May 5, 20178 yr If the line is actually chewed to the point where you're worried about it leaking, or just want the piece of mind. You'll need to order that hose from the dealer, or maybe someone in the aftermarket world. Because where it connects to the intake, that's a quick disconnect. So there no real way to replace that line and keep the disconnect there.
May 5, 20178 yr Author Obviously, a leak and possible fire danger are my greatest concerns. What do you mean if you replace it you can't keep the disconnect? Is it possible to buy the hose with the disconnect on it?
May 6, 20178 yr Yeah. A replacement should have the disconnect. What I meant is you can't really just use any piece of hose, because of that quick disconnect.
May 6, 20178 yr Author OK, thanks. And with the hose being chewed to where just the start of the threads showing, do you recommend immediate replacement or can I driver until I can get the hose?
May 6, 20178 yr Threads of the hose? If they're just starting to show or are showing but not chewed through, you're probably fine. Obviously change is asap, but it's unlikely to leak fuel right away.
May 6, 20178 yr Author Yeah, the rubber was chewed down to where the white fabric threads are starting to show. I inagine it's not tremendous pressure, so guessing it probably won't blow or leak.
May 6, 20178 yr The pressure in that line is whatever fuel pressure is. So 40-80? Nothing really high. Just get it replaced sooner rather then later.
