Hello from another Outback owner

Featured Replies

Hi,

I've had my 2000 Outback a year now and love it.  At 210K miles, the EJ252 engine has the dreaded head gasket problem, but I'm watching it like a hawk.  At each tankful, I need to move coolant from the catch bottle back into the radiator and replace about a 1/2 quart of lost oil.

Engine swap will have to happen within about a year I'm guessing, but the problem isn't getting worse.

I joined because I want to find more info about the Aussie 5MT dual range transmission.

Is the TY754XKAAA the proper one to start with and mod for the 1.59:1 EA gearing?

Quaife ATB or Torsen diff?

I've got a while to plan this... no rush.
