Are cracked gas tank vent valves a major problem for Subarus?  My Forester has 42,000 miles.  I have never heard of this being a problem for ANY car.  Any knowledge would be helpful.  Thank you.

Engine light was on.

 

Bought new in early 2009, it had been the dealers test drive Forester.  2008 with 48,000 miles.  Well maintained, I have all of the records.  Took it to a dealer in Tyler. They saved the old parts for me and showed me where the cracks were.  They told me that is problem is common in this configuration: 2006s to 2008s.  All fixed now.  Thank you for your reply.
