Tranny clicks when shifting to reverse from park or drive also 1-2 shift isn't clean along with tranny get stuck in 3rd every once in a while even if manually shifted from 3rd to D please help don't have the money to drop in a tranny but am going manual when I can

car details? is the car new to you or did this problem just begin? any wrecks or work done on the car recently?

 

 

many folks have good luck doing 1-2-3 drain/fills on the automatics. Delayed engagement can sometimes be helped a lot with fluid change and a bottle of Trans-X.

 

and it's the only fluid you check while idling.

Car has 280xxx miles on it and it just didn't engage fully one day and I touched the gas and then cluncked into reverse it's a 98 legacy ej22e and it new to me just started to do this after it cluncked in reverse and I've just made.sure from now on to wait till it makes a light click sound and then go
