So I had a whole new exhaust put on the car.  Was under it today installing a new fuel filter when I noticed the muffler heat shield is extremely rusted to the point of falling apart.  Anywhere to get a replacement or is there something out of the box to do like wrap it etc.  Worried about it heating the gas tank too much I guess.

Make up a new piece of tin to replace it.

 

The heat shield isn't made of special material, some light sheet metal or even some corrugated roof iron would do the job.
