My 1993 impreza backed out of the driveway fine this morning got to work parked it 

Went out for lunch car go's into neutral when shifting into reverse won't role back till you shut off the engine also in drive when shifted into neutral.shifts through all forward gears no slipping no flashing lights on dash . Car has 360 thousand miles on it never has given me any problems till today . Should I just scrap this one and get a new car . Body and engine in great shape transmission shop said transmission is junk also said car not worth replacing transmission to old really don't want to spend thousands in repairs hoping for some inputs thanks

Reverse is the first gear to go when your start losing clutches. Time for a used trans. Should be able to get a used tranny for under $500. Install is about 6 hours plus fluids. Should be less than $1200.
