November 10, 20196 yr Hello, Has anyone put an aftermarket remote starter on a 2019 Outback. This is my first Subaru, was told it’s very tricky putting aftermarket remote starts on Subaru’s. Unfortunately my car didn’t come with one, and the dealer never mentioned anything when I said I would put an aftermarket remote start on it. Any suggestions?
November 10, 20196 yr You subscribe to starlink and use the phone app. Aftermarket systems will not work due to the level of integration and key encryption Subaru uses. Welcome to the 21st century. Subaru doesn't want you being able to buy things like this from other sources. None of the auto manufacturers do. GD Edited November 10, 20196 yr by GeneralDisorder
November 10, 20196 yr Author GD Thank you for the reply. Will definitely stay away from aftermarket. To use the STARLINK, I will have to go to Subaru and get a OEM remote installed, do I have that correct? Darrin
November 11, 20196 yr I believe it's part of the phone app, or you can buy an actual key ring remote also if you would like one. I don't think there is any hardware that you have to buy but I'm not completely 100% familiar with this aspect of 2019's being I own an independent shop and don't see much of the newest models. GD

November 11, 20196 yr Author Thank you, purchased the starlink app, will post a response of what I find out. Thank you for the info.
November 12, 20196 yr Author Looks like the starlink app doesn’t show the auto start feature. Will need to install the remote start, I have a key not the push button. Installed is $650. Wish I would have done this when I made the purchase. Edited November 12, 20196 yr by darrad99
