Got a 95 ,2.2 LTR. outback. When approaching to a stop or at an idle, the engine cuts out. But it will start right back up. When driving at normal speeds on the road, it runs fine.

Auto or manual trans?

Check engine light on?

idle air controller/valve.  clean or on these models it usually needs replaced.  they fail rarely enough that a used one is a reasonable option.

thanks for the comeback.      This 95 subaru has the automatic trans in it. the last time I worked on this car, the engine light was off.  the lady who owns this car told me that is on now. I still need to get down to test for the problem with the engine light.
