December 8, 20214 yr I have a 96 legacy L with an ej22e sitting on forester struts. Im new to lifting subies. Anyone else have experience lifting legacy's? Good or bad, do share. Not sure what im getting myself into but im all in!
December 8, 20214 yr i did a 95 Legacy with Forester struts.. no issues to report.. i actually liked it. Also used the Forester wheels mounted with tires that were close to stock diameter (to keep the speedo correct) you can see my results here: https://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/topic/171162-lifting-a-96-legacy-l/?tab=comments#comment-1417502 and here: https://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/topic/170615-is-a-noninstalled-96-99-ob-strut-assembly-shorter-than-00-04-ob/?tab=comments#comment-1413567
December 8, 20214 yr I have an OBS on Forester struts. I like it. A bit of rear inner tire ware. I used the trailing arm bracket from the Forester to keep the tire centered. It's about an 1" longer. I also use a smaller dia bolt on the top rear strut lower mount so I could get the camber close to what it should be.
December 8, 20214 yr Author Thanks for the insight. Looks like complete success with that 95 my man. Ill have to look into that trailing arm thing. Are there benefits to using the different trailing arm to useing the trailing arm spacers that they sell? And what about setting the proper camber? I havent messed with that at all and am going to have to when i do my alignment. How do i know its right? I want to do as good of a job as possible.
December 9, 20214 yr The body to trailing arm bracket are longer. Spacers would not move it as much. Off camber means tire wear. If you can get it to spec. that's the best.
December 9, 20214 yr i did not do anything with the trailing arm - yes the tires were slightly off center in the wheel well, but I had no issues running it like that. there are camber bolt kits you can purchase to adjust the camber on the rear.. the shop i took mine to for alignment used one and got it set pretty good. (yes, i paid for an alignment after putting in all brand new struts, springs and tophats... it was worth it - less than $70 for a full alignment job)
December 10, 20214 yr Author Any experience with subframe spacers? Cant find much out there. I cant imagine its a huge job but id definitely like to correct some of the angle on the CVs. Are there any other benefits to them???
