Tyler07 Posted March 27, 2022 Share Posted March 27, 2022 1999 legacy outback 5 speed. No fifth gear at all, incredibly sloppy shifter. I’ve bought new bushings for the shifter and I’ve read about the input shaft nut backing off and being a common culprit for losing 5th gear. I can’t find a decent YouTube video on getting to that nut. Is completely pulling the transmission necessary? There’s a short video on YouTube that makes it seem like it’s accessible without pulling.
