Using The Same Fluid Pump for ATF and CVT

Featured Replies

Hello Everyone,

I have to do a drain and fill on my 14 Forester CVT.  I had a dedicated fluid pump for this but accidentally used it for ATF on another vehicle.  If I were to use it again on the CVT and pumped a few pumps of CVT through to flush the ATF, would the residual ATF cause any damage?  I would think it would be so diluted it wouldn't matter, but I know these things can be sensitive.

Cheers

After flushing it'll be such a small amount I'd guess it's negligible.

I ended up using about 0.5qts of the old fluid to flush, then a couple pumps of the new fluid to clear out the old.  Hasn't blown up yet
