Does anybody know if they ever had an upgraded speaker setup for the 2nd gen Legacy that had tweeters that mounted on the door? I know the later years they had something that went in place of the little black cap on the other side of the mirror.

My 96 OBW has the tweeters there. Came with the car when I got it. I dunno if they really work to well :-/

Go to Crutchfields. They are on the web of course. They will sell you speakers that are far better than stock and that install with the factory wires and an adapter plug. I generally replace em all. Makes a huge difference!
