SubaSkeet Posted August 3, 2004 Share Posted August 3, 2004 dunno if they come standard, but my electronic shoulder harness belt on the drivers side door isnt werking every time it should. could this be old wiring, bad plug? i notice that all the wires are in the door panel and sometimes it'll work yet some other times (usually the times i need to use the freeway - go figure) it wont no matter how many times i slam the door with the car both on and off. this only recently started happening and come to think about it only started after i got my a/c fixed. they have nothing to do with each other that i know of but just in case it does i noted it. anyway its tired so good luck deciphering this post. thanks for any help in advance. SubaSkeet Posted August 3, 2004 Author Share Posted August 3, 2004 i read a prev. thread on how to diagnose the switch signals.. and i still dont get it. maybe its because its late at night (for me anyways), but i know i cant risk being pulled over by the fuzz and being seen with a shoulder harness that i tie around my headrest so it looks somewhat like im wearing it correctly from a distance. cops arent THAT dumb. tomorrow before heading for work im gonna try and mess with the wiring, see if something's not connecting. its weird how it does this all the sudden tho, and i dont exactly have a warranty (or a junkyard to get spare parts from) to fix it. any help at all, even one of meatwagon's whimsical off-the-top-of-my-head ideas. argh, why cant they just be manual? its not like i forget my seatbelt every time i drive, or anything. or why couldnt it have gotten stuck in the 'closed' position? only me, i suppose... GLCraig Posted August 3, 2004 Share Posted August 3, 2004 Well the automatic seat belts were a fad during the early 90's. Anyway if you look along the plastic trim of the pillar behind the seat, you'll find a cap/plug near the bottom. If you pull it out, you should see what looks like an internal hex head. What that really is, is a place to manually crank the belt using an allen wrench. There should be a crank on the under side of the armrest of the center counsel. On the Loyales, the crank is in a small pouch which can be found snapped to the front of the rear seat, near the floor, on the passenger side. The pouch is made of carpet material, so it is easy to miss. I looked all over for mine before finding it, because I had thought it was *under* the seat. (Yes, I do know that this thread is 7+ years old... but it still comes up in the search, so I figured I might as well add on to it in case anyone else finds it in a search and is wondering where their crank is.)
